Solitude has always existed in society in different forms: living or working solo; the lone vacation; and isolation from society. This issue of Corridors brings together texts that examine the diversity and complexity of solitude through four themes: the solitude of isolation imposed by an authority of power; the solitude of the dreamer withdrawn from society as a form of rebellion; the solitude of difference associated with one's sexuality; and the solitude of elements in the larger cosmos beyond humanity.
