Which talent would you most like to have?
To sing! Preferably like Fiona Apple.
What is your most treasured possession?
This is less a possession than a place, but I recently moved into a new work space and I finally feel I’ve made it mine so, my studio in Rome.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
It would involve laying back on an island somewhere in the middle of the ocean, and looking up at the night sky. Pantelleria comes to mind.
What is your motto?
You’ll only regret the things you didn’t do.
How would you like to die?
Peacefully, in my sleep. Which is to say, obliviously.
If you were to die and come back as a person or thing, what would it be?
I would come back as a cloud that gets to spend its days drifting around the globe, always changing shape. Sometimes transforming into rain so as to come down and visit earth again for a while, or to take a dip in the ocean, and then rising back up into the sky on a beam of sunlight.
What do you consider the most overrated virtue?
What is your current state of mind?
Restless but determined.
