Which talent would you most like to have?

Hmm… talent or superpower? I suppose ‘talent’ means something that’s humanly possible. I long for the day that we’ll be able to teleport, but till then – being able to write convincing fiction would be the dream.

 

What is your most treasured possession?

Can I have two? A sense of hearing and an open mind.

 

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Being forgiven.

 

What is your motto?

There’s a verse in the Old Testament that goes, ‘Who dares make light of small beginnings?’ I come back to it again and again, as a reminder that however immense the task seems, each small start is worth making.

 

How would you like to die?

Having stayed active and engaged in what I care about, until the moment comes.

 

If you were to die and come back as a person or thing, what would it be?

A red kite: the closest thing I have to a ‘spirit animal’!

 

What do you consider the most overrated virtue?

Pragmatism.

 

What is your current state of mind?

I’ve just tuned in to Ethos Books’ panel, ‘The Ground Speaks: Civil Society after GE2020’. So, hopeful – always hopeful. Because what do we have without hope?
