THE IDEOLOGY ISSUE 1 + 2 + 3 BUNDLE
The Ideology is a magazine series by Eve Yeo that seeks to critique capitalism and address modern anxieties regarding loneliness and isolation. The original aim for the magazine was a call to solidarity in an age of individualism. It has always been about critiquing the unsustainable nature of capitalism and seeking reconciliation between the individual and society. Self-awareness and knowledge are powerful tools to mitigate the complexities of the world.
The Ideology bundle includes:
The Ideology #1 — The Ideology of Solidarity
The Ideology of Solidarity is an attempt to introduce the importance of solidarity in the midst of a defragmented hedonistic culture. By breaking down the pursuit of happiness in modern culture, the artist studies the impact of institutional oppression and popular culture on the psychology of the modern person. Capitalism and meritocracy created an age of passive individualism, but true power lies in the informed and united collective. The Ideology of Solidarity is the artist’s struggle with the contemporary society and how she seeks comfort in the destructive chaos.
The Ideology #2 — The Myth of Laziness
Following the first issue of the Ideology of Solidarity (which discusses the importance of sticking together), the second issue of the Ideology fixates on the importance of seeking comfort, what it means for young Singaporeans holding onto their asian identity in the age of individualism and what has to be done for surviving in an age of increasing anxieties.
The Ideology #3 — Persisting Resistance
This third issue of The Ideology deals with the struggles of growing up and recognising the differences you face as an adult and as a child. Besides recognising the issues that come to us in this current society, the issue also talks about how dealing with the inner struggles of identity and loneliness.
